Parliament Security Breach: Man Apprehended After Attempting to Scale Wall and Enter Premises

Authorities said that the man was caught when he tried to climb the Parliament wall and then tried to jump within the compound.

An early morning catch, a man was caught on Friday while trying to climb the Parliament wall in Delhi. Delhi police authorities confirmed that there was a breach of security around 6 AM.

An HT official in the Rajya Sabha said, "One man attempted to enter the building in an unauthorized fashion at 6 AM today. He has been apprehended." Probe into the incident is going on.

This suspected intrusion occurs less than two years since a dramatic invasion within the Lok Sabha chamber on December 13, 2023, coinciding with the 22nd anniversary of the 2001 Parliament terror attack. On that occasion, two individuals, subsequently named as Sagar Sharma and Manoranjan D, leaped from the visitors' gallery into the chamber in the course of a live session, releasing yellow-hued gas from canisters and screaming slogans.

Meanwhile, outside the Parliament building, Amol Dhanraj Shinde and Neelam Azad were also spotted letting colored smoke out from identical canisters as they chanted slogans. Two other persons, Lalit Jha and Mahesh Kumawat, were later arrested in relation to the incident.

In granting bail, however, the high court also placed numerous conditions to ensure that the accused cannot interfere with the ongoing trial or investigation. They have been outrightly prohibited from conducting press conferences, media interviews, or posting comments on social media about the incident.

Also, the court ordered Azad and Kumawat to personally present themselves at their respective police stations on every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 10:00 AM without fail. They are also not allowed to leave Delhi NCR without court permission beforehand.
