Prime Minister Narendra Modi is on a visit to Bihar today and is on his way to inaugurating infrastructure worth ₹7,200 crore.
The Prime Minister has appealed that the state should be shaped into a growth powerhouse that is part of the vision of a developed India or Viksit Bharat.
Addressing a mass public rally in Motihari, PM Modi stressed Bihar's capabilities to emerge as a pillar of India's economic future, just like some of the countries in the East have emerged as leading actors in the global economy.
"I congratulate all on getting a series of developmental projects amounting to Rs 7,200 crore," the Prime Minister declared to deafening applause and shouts from the audience.
Hailing the initiatives of the NDA government led by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, PM Modi stated that the alliance is determined to bring Bihar's development and narrow the gap between the state and other more developed parts of the country.
"Infrastructure development of Bihar's cities in terms of how Gaya is on par with Gurugram, Pune with Patna, Jaipur with Jalpaiguri, Bengaluru with Birbhoom, is what our focus is," he stated, emphasizing the government's push towards equitable development.
He lashed out at the earlier UPA government, blaming it with practising "revenge politics" and neglecting Bihar. PM Modi claimed that the Congress government gave just ₹2 lakh crore to Bihar during the last 10 years, while the BJP government has doubled that in the past 10 years.
He further added that the practitioners of "revenge politics" have been kept on the sidelines, paving the way for attention to turn back to welfare and development.
PM Modi also added that the people of Bihar have been some of the biggest beneficiaries of Central government welfare schemes. "In Motihari city alone, over three lakh families have received pucca houses," he added.
Earlier today, PM Modi was greeted by huge throngs of people along the roads to the venue. Enthusiastic supporters cheered slogans of "Modi-Modi" and "Bharat Mata ki Jai" as the Prime Minister's motorcade, escorted by Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, drove through Motihari.
This is the second visit of the Prime Minister to Bihar in the month, which highlights the growing significance of the state in the national development agenda.
