Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Friday remained unyielding on his vote rigging charges and attacked the Election Commission for asking him to file an affidavit on oath.
Addressing the 'Vote Adhikar Rally' organized here, Gandhi alleged that the Election Commission and the BJP were in cahoots to tamper with the results of the Lok Sabha election.
The EC wants me to submit an affidavit and provide information under oath. I have sworn oath within the Parliament with the Constitution in hand," he said.
Gandhi also accused that when individuals started questioning the Election Commission on the basis of information he had made public, the EC replied by suspending its website.
He stated that EC websites in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Bihar went offline because officials were afraid that if the data were made public for scrutiny, the whole system would collapse.
The previous Congress president also cited anomalies in recent election results: "In the (2024) Lok Sabha poll, our coalition wins. But within 4 months, the BJP wins the Maharashtra Assembly election. It was a shock result of the election. When we inquired, we discovered that 1 crore new voters voted; 1 crore new voters who had never been part of the LS polls voted in the assembly election in Maharashtra."
Gandhi claimed that the new votes were in favor of the BJP, implying corruption. "Wherever these new voters voted, the BJP won. The BJP was not harmed by the votes of our alliance and we received the same number of votes that we received in the Lok Sabha election. The new voters switched to the BJP in the Assembly election," he further said.
