Shocking: Delhi CM Rekha Gupta Slapped, Assaulted While Meeting People at Her Official Residence

Sources told IANS that, at the public hearing, one person came out of nowhere and hurled a heavy object at the Chief Minister. Chief Minister Gupta allegedly collapsed on the ground after the attack.

Initial, unconfirmed reports indicate that the assailant yelled at Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, slapped her, and uttered abusive language. There was a serious fight between the Chief Minister and the assailant.

The suspected attacker, who is a man in his 30s, purportedly gave some papers to the Chief Minister and mentioned a court case before opening fire. He also purportedly pulled out her hair and slapped her, according to sources that have not been verified.

There is no official report of the incident issued yet.

The incident has prompted fear over a significant security failure.

At present, the Chief Minister is under medical observation, and doctors are evaluating the severity of her injuries, sources added.

As a precaution following the attack, security has been enhanced at the Chief Minister's house. Top officials of the Delhi Police are present at the location, and an investigation is being conducted at the Civil Lines police station. The Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) has also reached CM Rekha Gupta's residence.

BJP state president Virendra Sachdeva denounced the attack, saying that he is heading to the Chief Minister's house.

The weekly 'Jan Sunvai' meetings are organized by the Chief Minister to hear public grievances and are attended by hundreds of citizens every week.
