The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has severely criticized West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee after a viral video circulated where the song 'Kaaba in my heart' was sung at a Durga Puja pandal with Banerjee clapping. The party termed this incident as "the limit of appeasement politics."
The video, posted by BJP IT cell head Amit Malviya, shows Trinamool Congress MLA Madan Mitra singing within a Durga Puja pandal in Kolkata, West Bengal. While performing, Mitra can be heard singing, "There's Kaba in my heart and Medina in my eyes," and Mamata Banerjee can be seen listening to the performance, clapping.
Massive Chaos in Bengal Assembly: BJP and TMC Trade 'Chor' Jibes, Mamata Speech Triggers Ruckus Commenting on the video, BJP MP Sudhanshu Trivedi questioned whether there is a deliberate attempt to undermine the ‘Shakti’ of Hinduism.
Addressing ANI, Trivedi said, "When the whole country is celebrating Navratri, malice thoughts and suspicious sentiments of INDI Allaince leaders are coming to the fore. In March 2014, Rahul Gandhi mentioned that he has to battle the 'Shakti' in Hinduism. Appears to be the assault on that 'Shakti' initiated on this Navratri. The Karnataka government recently got Banu Mushtaq pray at a Devi temple."
"Today, WB CM Mamata Banerjee, in a Durga Pandal, clapped and enjoyed a song 'Dil mein Kaaba, nazar mein Madeena'... There is no issue with it, but what is suspicious is why it is being sung in a Durga Pandal, during Navratri, in the presence of the WB CM... Are landmines being spread to fight and attack the 'Shakti' of Hinduism and uproot Hinduism?... Singing a song of another religion during Puja is secular for them... This is the limit to secure the radical votes, and the nation needs to be aware of this... This is the limit of appeasement politics," he added.
Amit Malviya had earlier posted the video on his social media handle and condemned Mamata Banerjee for the act. He noted that the West Bengal CM had already opened a number of puja pandals while dressed in a hijab during the inauspicious time of Pitru Paksha.
"This is how Sanatan Dharma and Sanatani beliefs are being trampled in West Bengal. Hindus in the state must rise to protect their traditions; otherwise nothing will be left to defend, and they will be at the mercy of rampaging jihad, consequences of which are visible across Bangladesh," he said in a post on X.
