With India 1-2 down in the series, the July 23 match at Old Trafford has become a case of must-win. There was also a cloud over the fitness of pacer Akash Deep, but he has been kept in the team. There is still debate as to whether Jasprit Bumrah will be rested and, if so, which pace bowler will be summoned in his absence.

There are also whispers that Bumrah could still play in the fourth Test, potentially at the expense of Akash Deep. In the meantime, demands for spinner Kuldeep Yadav to be drafted into the playing XI have gained strength. Though in the squad, the left-arm wrist-spinner has not played in any of the first three Tests.

Arshdeep Singh has been excluded from the fourth Test against England at Manchester. He suffered an impact injury on his left thumb while bowling in the nets during a training camp in Beckenham. The BCCI Medical Team is keeping him under observation.

The release also confirmed the inclusion of Anshul Kamboj in the Indian team. The young pacer has already joined the team in Manchester.
