Virat Kohli Resumes Training in London, Expresses Gratitude to GT’s Assistant Coach

"Thanks for assisting with the hit, brother. Always nice to catch up with you," Kohli wrote on his Instagram story, posting a photo from the session with himself and Amin. Amin replied warmly by re-posting the message and saying, "Good to see you too, brother! See you soon."

Amidst global speculations regarding his international cricket career, India superstar batter Virat Kohli got back into training in London and took a pause to thank Gujarat Titans assistant coach Naeem Amin for his guidance during an indoor session.

"Thanks for assisting with the hit, brother. Always nice to catch up with you," Kohli wrote on his Instagram story, posting a photo from the session with himself and Amin. Amin replied warmly by re-posting the message and saying, "Good to see you too, brother! See you soon."

Naeem Amin, who runs the Mighty Willow Academy in Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, and London, has experience coaching with Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL. Hardik Pandya, India's bowling all-rounder, has also trained at Amin's academy in the past to develop his skills.

Since his departure from Test and T20 International cricket as of June 2024, Kohli has concentrated his efforts on One Day Internationals for India and carrying out his IPL responsibility with Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB).

Boasting 14,181 runs in 302 ODI matches, Kohli’s most recent competitive appearance was in the IPL 2025 final, where his match-winning 43 runs helped RCB clinch their first-ever title, edging out Punjab Kings by six runs at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Punters will have to wait until October 2025 to see Kohli get back into action in international cricket, as India has no ODI matches pencilled in before that at the moment. A scheduled three-match ODI series against Bangladesh in August was shifted to September 2026 following a mutual understanding between the BCCI and Bangladesh Cricket Board.

Both Kohli and Rohit Sharma, who have also withdrawn from Tests and T20Is, are expected to return during India's ODI tour of Australia, which starts on October 19 at Perth Stadium. The tour will continue with matches at Adelaide Oval on October 23 and Sydney Cricket Ground on October 25.
