According to a report by Europe-based online shopping platform Burga, Apple is gaining ground in market share despite the company's smartphones mainly being considered expensive compared to competitors.

Amazon ends paid time off for employees with Covid

Starting from Monday, Amazon will offer up to five days of "unpaid, excused leave", reports CNBC. Amazon initially offered 14 days of paid time off to Covid-infected workers at the start of the pandemic. In a fresh notice, Amazon said that the workers with "confirmed" Covid-19 cases can submit a request for paid time off per its "standard sick leave policy", regardless of vaccination status.
WhatsApp bans over 18 lakh bad accounts in India in March

"In accordance with the IT Rules 2021, we've published our report for the month of March 2022. This user-safety report contains details of the user complaints received and the corresponding action taken by WhatsApp, as well as WhatsApp's own preventive actions to combat abuse on our platform," a WhatsApp spokesperson said in a statement.
Nearly half of Elon Musk's 90mn Twitter followers are 'fake'

According to Twitter auditing tool SparkToro, of Musk's 87.9 million followers (at the time of the research audit), roughly 48 per cent are fake, reports Time. These are the accounts that are "unreachable and will not see the account's tweets because they're spam, bots, propaganda, etc. or because they're no longer active on Twitter". Musk currently has nearly 90 million followers on Twitter.
Apple, Samsung now have almost 60% global tablet market share

Apple iPadOS shipments (sell-in) fell 6 per cent (year-on-year) to 15.8 million units in Q1 2022, with worldwide market share climbing 1.7 percentage points to 39 per cent as the tech giant outpaced the market, according to market research firm Strategy Analytics. Samsung led the Android market with only a 1.2 per cent decline in Q1 2022 to 8.2 million units. Its market share increased by 1.8 percentage points to 20 per cent during the same period.

Samsung likely considering price cuts for upcoming foldable phones

According to TheElec, Samsung was reviewing using batteries from Chinese battery maker Amperex Technology Limited (ATL) for its upcoming foldable smartphones. The company is likely considering including ATL as a supplier for its foldable phones to save on costs as analysts expect Samsung to lower the price tags of its latest foldable phones launching later this year.
Google's 'Pixel Watch' expected to offer 300mAh battery

According to a source familiar with the matter, the Pixel Watch has a battery that comes in at 300mAh, reports 9To5Google. The report also mentioned that the smartwatch is likely to come with cellular connectivity, however, it is not clear which of the model will support the feature.
WhatsApp working on showing status updates in chats list

According to WABetaInfo, this feature is under development so it has not been rolled out to beta testers yet. "Another improvement for status updates is coming in a future update of WhatsApp beta," the report said. "If you have an Instagram account, you know that it is also possible to view status updates right within the list of your private chats. Today, we can finally announce that the same feature is also coming to WhatsApp!" it added.
