Qualcomm's next flagship SoC may support AV1 video codec
According to GizChina, the chip's internal codename is SM8550, which matches the codenames of other Snapdragon 8-series chipsets. SM8450 for the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, SM8350 for the Snapdragon 888, and so on. AV1, or aAOMedia Video 1,' is an open, royalty-free coding format designed for transmitting video over the Internet. Qualcomm's current chips don't support native decoding of AV1 videos.

Smartphones may reveal your identity, breaching privacy: Study
Researchers from Universities of Lancaster and Bath analysed smartphone data from 780 people. They fed 4,680 days of app usage data into statistical models. Each of these days was paired with one of the 780 users, such that the models learnt people's daily app use patterns. The researchers then tested whether models could identify an individual when provided with only a single day of smartphone activity that was anonymous and not yet paired with a user.

Reduction in air pollution can help improve kidney function: Study
Researchers from King's College London found that ambient fine particulate matter (PM2.5) concentration reduction led to significant improvement in laboratory test results used to assess a patient's kidney function. In the study, published in the journal Health Data Science, the team conducted a quasi-experimental difference-in-difference analysis. They identified a strong linkage between the reduced PM2.5 with improved kidney function, Han added.
World's largest NFT marketplace OpenSea hacked, users lost NFTs
OpenSea Co-Founder and CEO, Devin Finzer acknowledged the phishing attack, confirming that 32 users have lost NFTs so far. He said rumours that this was a $200 million hack are false and the attacker "has $1.7 million of ETH in his wallet from selling some of the stolen NFTs. While the NFT marketplace was yet to figure out the magnanimity of the cyber attack, Blockchain investigator Peckshield said he suspects a possible leak of user information that fuelled the phishing attack.
