US Embassy in India Issues Stern Warning: Visa Revocation and Immediate Deportation for Non-Compliance

In a statement released last Saturday, the Embassy reiterated that visa recipients are still subject to ongoing examination even after visa approval.

The U.S. Embassy in India released a new travel notice clarifying that having a U.S. visa is not necessarily a guarantee to enter the country. In a statement released last Saturday, the Embassy reiterated that visa recipients are still subject to ongoing examination even after visa approval.

"US visa screening doesn't end once a visa is given. We constantly monitor visa holders to make sure they abide by all U.S. laws and immigration regulations – and we will cancel their visas and remove them if they don't," the Embassy said in an X post.

The new skepticism occurs as the U.S. government has redoubled efforts to suppress illegal immigration, which has been a priority area under President Donald Trump's tenure.

Under part of increased vetting process in recent times, the U.S. Embassy previously implemented more stringent application criteria. The applicants are now asked to provide social media activity over the last five years when applying for their DS-160 visa applications.

Visa applicants must enter all social media handles or usernames of all platforms they have used during the past five years on the DS-160 visa application form. Applicants attest that the information on their visa application is accurate and correct before they sign and submit," the Embassy added in another advisory.

It also cautioned that not providing accurate or complete information, particularly on social media activity, would lead to denial of the visa or even future ineligibility.

The new guidance comes as a reminder to potential travelers to the U.S. to be transparent and compliant, not only while applying for a visa, but for the entire length of their stay.
