The Prime Minister had come to Tokyo earlier in the day for the visit, which follows the spate of tensions between New Delhi and Washington over President Donald Trump's tariffs and trade policies.

Highlighting India as a hot destination for investment, Modi cited the political and economic stability of the country, and transparency and predictability of policy-making.
