Trump Hides Right Hand During Oval Office Speech Amid Bruise Concerns

Speaking from the Oval Office Monday, Trump declared the deployment of the National Guard to Memphis, Tennessee, one month after he had sent troops into Washington, D.C. As he spoke to the nation from behind the Resolute Desk, his left hand lay across his right, which over the past few weeks has shown visible bruising.

President Donald Trump was again spotted grasping his right hand while making a national address, fuelling ongoing intrigue over a conspicuous bruise, says The Mirror.

The dark purple stain has been there for more than a month, and Trump has apparently used makeup to cover it at times.

During an Oval Office address last week after the assassination of activist Charlie Kirk, Trump once again hid his right hand behind his left. In that speech, Trump blamed "radical left" terrorism for the assassination.

"It's way past time for all Americans, and the media, to recognize that violence and killing are the horrific result of demonizing people with whom you disagree day after day, year after year, in the worst manner possible," Trump stated. "For decades, so-called 'radical leftists' have equated great Americans like Charlie with Nazis and the globe's most notorious mass murderers and criminals. This is language that is responsible in and of itself for the terrorism that we're witnessing in our nation today, and it has to end immediately."

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt has blamed the bruising on the president's daily routine. According to her, frequent handshaking with world leaders like Vladimir Putin and Volodymyr Zelensky and the use of aspirin therapy were to blame.

"Recent photographs of the president have revealed small bruising on the back of his hand. This is a normal soft tissue inflammation from repeated handshaking and use of aspirin, taken as part of a routine cardiovascular prevention regimen," Leavitt said in August. "This is a common and harmless side effect of aspirin therapy. The president is in great health, which I believe all of you see on a daily basis here."

In July, the White House announced that Trump had been diagnosed with chronic venous insufficiency, a circulatory disorder found among individuals above 70. The disease slows the flow of blood to the extremities and is associated with swelling in his ankles.
