Covid peak has arrived in Delhi, cases to decline now: Satyendar Jain

"Covid peak has already arrived in Delhi. Lets see when the cases begin to decline. However, it seems that the cases have begun to slow down in the city", Jain said. Delhi witnessed a slight dip in the daily cases at 24,383 on Friday which is expected to go down further today. The daily Covid cases are expected to reduce by around 4,000 on Friday.

The IMD also predicted cold day conditions over northwest India for the next two days. A trough runs from north interior Karnataka to north interior Odisha in lower tropospheric levels and there is a cyclonic circulation over south Konkan in lower tropospheric levels, under the influence of which, the IMD said, there would be scattered to fairly widespread light/moderate rainfall very likely over coastal Andhra Pradesh till January 16 and isolated to scattered light/moderate rainfall over Marathwada, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, and Telangana on Saturday.

Int'l passengers mandated to upload RT-PCR report on Air Suvidha app post arrival

As per the fresh guidelines, all international passengers must mandatorily be quarantined at home for seven days, followed by an RT-PCR test on the eighth day. Earlier, isolation was needed only for those passengers coming from "at risk" countries. If the passenger tests negative on the eight day, she/he will have to further monitor her/his health for the next seven days.
IMD launches 'Climate Hazard & Vulnerability Atlas of India'

"The primary purpose of the climate vulnerability maps is for the users of disaster management sectors to identify the vulnerable districts for taking preventive and adaptive measures. Thus, in vulnerability maps, vulnerability assessment was focused on the district levels," the IMD said. The map was released at an event to mark the 147th foundation day of IMD.

Govt makes six airbags compulsory in vehicles carrying up to 8 passengers

In a series of tweets, Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, said, "In order to enhance the safety of the occupants in motor vehicles carrying up to 8 passengers, I have now approved a draft GSR notification to make a minimum of 6 airbags compulsory." "The ministry already mandated the implementation of fitment of the driver airbag w.e.f. July 1, 2019 and front co-passenger airbag w.e.f. January 1, 2022," Gadkari said.

A bench of Justices Indira Banerjee and J.K. Maheshwari said: "Failure to control an adult brother, living independently, or giving advice to the complainant (the wife) to adjust to avoid vindictive retaliation... cannot constitute cruelty on the part of the appellant (brother-in-law) within the meaning of Section 498A of the IPC." A case was lodged by a woman against her husband and in-laws - mother, father, and husband's brother -- for subjecting her to cruelty.
