SP-RLD release first list of 29 candidates for UP polls
The two parties jointly released a list of 29 candidates - nine from the SP and 20 from the RLD. Prominent SP candidates include Nahid Hasan from Kairana, Pankaj Malik from Charthawal, Shahid Manzoor from Kithor, and Rafiq Ansari from Meerut. Other are Zafar Alam from Aligarh, Salman Saeed from Kol, Amarpal Sharma from Sahibabad, Aslam Chaudhary from Dhaulana, and Kunwar Singh Vakil from Agra Cantt.
Three killed, many injured in Bengal train accident
"Deeply concerned to hear about the tragic accident of the Bikaner-Guwahati Express in Maynaguri. Senior officers of the State Government, DM/SP/IG North Bengal are supervising rescue and relief operations. Those injured will receive medical attention, as early as possible," Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said.

S. Karuna Raju said the surveillance teams have seized 797,66.512 litres of liquor valued at Rs 24 lakh. Similarly, the enforcement wings have recovered psychotropic substances amounting to Rs 23.36 crore, besides confiscating unaccounted cash of Rs 4 lakh, he added. The Chief Electoral Officer revealed that as many as 1,028 highly sensitive areas have been identified.
India improves global passport rank, Japan-Singapore top list, Pak among worst
As per the report, Japan and Singapore top the list of being the most powerful passports in the world for the year 2022. The visa-free score of both countries is at 192. Afghanistan (rank 111) and Iraq (rank 110) continue to be in the 'worst passports to hold' category having a visa-free score of 26 and 28 respectively. Pakistan's passport is fourth among the worst or least powerful passports.

Delhi transport minister Kailash Gahlot recently shared photograph of an e-bus prototype that has come up in the National Capital. This bus will soon be included in the fleet of DTC buses of Delhi. He took to his Twitter handle to announce the coming up of e-bus in Delhi. Enforce cockfighting ban, Centre tells Andhra as PETA cries foul
Following a complaint by People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) India that despite a ban on cockfighting in the country, hundreds of arenas have been built for cockfighting in Andhra Pradesh, the central government statutory body Animal Welfare Board of India (AWBI) has fired off a letter to the state's director general of police, demanding more vigilance and action against offenders and to stop such illegal events.
