5-kg IED recovered near Indo-Pak border in Punjab

The seizure from the outskirts of Dhanoa village in Ajnala subdivision close to the Attari border was made on a tip-off about the smuggling of arms and ammunition from across the border. Delhi IED: Explosive mix of RDX and Ammonium Nitrate, says NSG DG

"Prima facie it looks like RDX & Ammonium Nitrate mix, around 3 kgs," Ganapathy told IANS. He said that they have shared all the details of the chemical composition of the explosive material with the Delhi Police. Earlier in the day, an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) was found concealed in an unattended bag in the Ghazipur Flower Market area which was defused by the bomb disposal squad of the National Security Guard. The bomb disposal squad with the help of police personnel dug an approximately 8 feet ditch in an open ground where the bag carrying the IED was disposed. "The NSG conducted a controlled explosion of the recovered IED at around 1.30 p.m.," an official said.
Appropriation Act 2021 gets Presidential assent

According to a gazette notification published on Friday, the President gave his assent on January 12. The Act authorises the expenditure of Rs 3,737,035,100,000 as voted by the Parliament, Rs 574,900,000 charged on the Consolidated Fund totalling to Rs 3,737,610,000,000 from and out of the Consolidated Fund of India towards defraying the several charges which will come in course of payment during the financial year 2021-22 in respect of the services specified.
No foul play, chopper carrying CDS crashed due to entry into clouds: Inquiry report

The country's first Chief of Defence Staff, General Bipin Rawat, his wife Madhulika and 12 armed forces personnel were killed in the crash near Coonoor in Tamil Nadu. Sharing preliminary findings of the tri-services Court of Inquiry report, the IAF said the chopper crash was a result of entry into clouds due to unexpected change in weather conditions in the valley.
PM to interact with startups on January 15

IED found at Delhi's Ghazipur market, controlled explosion carried out

"An IED was recovered from a suspicious bag and a controlled explosion was carried out," a senior official confirmed to IANS. A Fire Department Official told IANS that a call was received around 10.20 a.m. regarding an unattended bag lying at the Ghazipur flower market in the city after which one fire engine was rushed to the spot. Officials said that a team of National Security Guard's bomb disposal squad and the sleuths of Delhi Police's anti-terror unit Special Cell also reached the spot to assess the situation.
Parliament's Budget Session begins from Jan 31, Union Budget on Feb 1

The President is likely to address the joint sitting on January 31 and the same day the economic survey will be tabled in the House.The session will be conducted in two parts -- the first part will end on February 11 and after that the House will resume again on March 14 after a break. The session proceedings will fall in between the elections in five states, and the notification for the first phase of polls in Uttar Pradesh has been issued by the EC.
