India saw reduced malaria burden between 2019 and 2020: WHO

However, the rate of reduction was lower than it had been before the pandemic, the WHO report showed. India is among 11 countries -- Burkina Faso, Cameroon, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Ghana, Mali, Mozambique, the Niger, Nigeria, Uganda and the United Republic of Tanzania -- that account for 70 per cent of the global estimated case burden and 71 per cent of global estimated deaths.

India has registered  8,306 new Covid-19 cases and 211 deaths in the last 24 hours, according to the latest update released by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Monday. With the recovery of 8,834 patients in the last 24 hours the total recovered patients tally and increased to 3,40,69,608, keeping the recovery rate at 98.35 per cent, the highest since March 2020.
