India logs 18,454 new Covid cases, recovery rate maintained at 98.15%

With the new 160 fatalities, the overall death toll has increased to 4,52,811. The recovery of 17,561 patients in the last 24 hours has increased the cumulative tally of recovered patients to 3,34,95,808. Consequently, India's recovery rate stands at 98.15 per cent, currently at its highest peak since March 2020.
India achieves major milestone of 'one billion' vaccinations

A total of 100 crore vaccine doses were administered to the eligible population above 18 years under national vaccination drive in the country,  the CoWin portal mentioned on Thursday. The healthcare workers were the first ones to receive the covid-19 vaccine doses after the drive was launched on January 16, 2021. This was followed by the frontline workers who were included in the drive on February 2.
No respite for Aryan Khan, Bombay HC to hear his bail plea on Oct 26

The matter came up before Justice N.W. Sambre with Khan's lawyer Satish Maneshinde seeking urgent hearing on Friday or Monday. However, Justice Sambre decided to take up the matter on Tuesday next, and Khan may have to spend five more days in custody. The son of Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, Aryan Khan has challenged a ruling of the Special NDPS Court on Wednesday (October 20).
Southwest monsoon likely to withdraw on Oct 26: IMD

The weather department, in a statement, further said the southwest monsoon is likely to withdraw from the entire country around October 26 as the north-easterly winds are likely to set in the lower tropospheric levels over Bay of Bengal and extreme south Peninsular India. The process this year is delayed as the southwest monsoon normally withdraws from across India by October 15. The beginning of the withdrawal usually begins around September 26 every year but it got delayed this year and started from October 6.
India issues revised travel advisory, negative RT-PCR Report must

The fresh travel advisory says that fully-vaccinated travellers coming from a country with which India has arrangements for mutual acceptance of WHO approved Covid-19 vaccines shall be allowed to leave the airport after producing a negative RT-PCR test report, and will not have to undergo home quarantine and testing.
Delhi Police issues notice to Rajasthan CM's OSD

Lokesh Sharma, OSD to Gehlot, has been summoned by the crime branch in Delhi on October 22. Sharma was sent a notice to come to Delhi earlier too but he did not go. He has now been called for questioning at 11 a.m. by sending a notice through e-mail. However, Sharma is taking legal opinion regarding this matter.
NCB drugs case: No bail for Aryan Khan, 2 others

The court also declined the bail applications of Arbaaz Merchant and Munmun Dhamecha, the two accused in the same case. Khan's lawyer said that though the detailed order of Special Judge V.V. Patil is awaited, they plan to "appeal to the Bombay High Court today or tomorrow seeking bail".

Meanwhile, the NCB has reportedly found the mention of a heroine in one of the WhatsApp chats of Aryan.
