The new eight Chief Justices are: Justice Rajesh Bindal for the Allahabad High Court, Prakash Srivastava for the Calcutta High Court, Prashant Kumar Mishra for the Andhra Pradesh High Court, Ritu Raj Awasthi for the Karnataka High Court, Satish Chandra Sharma for the Telangana High Court, Ranjit V. More for the Meghalaya High Court, Aravind Kumar for the Gujarat High Court, and R.V. Malimath for the Madhya Pradesh High Court.

Delhi reports Covid death for second consecutive day, 33 new cases
With the new cases and fatality, the case tally has gone up to 14,38,428, and the death toll to 25,085, according to the Delhi Health Department bulletin. The number of active cases stands at 407, of which 109 are being treated in home isolation. A total of 56 Covid patients were discharged in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of recoveries to 14,12,936, the bulletin said.
India, Nepal to carry out joint army training exercise in Uttarakhand

Policeman killed in militant attack in J&K's Kulgam
Police sources said militants fired at constable Bantu Sharma in Wanpoh area of Kulgam district in the afternoon. "He was shifted to hospital for treatment, but he succumbed to critical injuries," a source said that the area has been cordoned off for searches and senior police and other security officers have reached the spot.

All-India rainfall 4% less than LPA till Sept 15: IMD
The all-India rainfall from June 1 till September 15 was 772.7 mm as against the 807.4 mm normal projection. For East and Northeast India on the one hand and the Southern Peninsula on the other, the departure from the LPA was by 27 and 26 per cent, respectively, for the week. In IMD parlance, LPA of rainfall is based on data between 1961 and 2010.
Radicalisation, trust deficit biggest challenges to peace: Modi
Addressing the plenary session of the 21st SCO meeting underway in Dushanbe, Tajikistan, he said radicalisation and trust deficit were the biggest challenges to peace in Central Asia and the recent developments in Afghanistan had made this challenge more clear.
