Delhi-NCR receives more rain, orange alert activated
Moderate to heavy rains will continue in the national capital till Friday, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said. The city received 2 mm rainfall at Safdarjung observatory, in the last 24 hours till 8.30 a.m. on Thursday. The maximum temperature on Wednesday was recorded at 35.3 degrees Celsius, two notches below normal, while the minimum was at 24.8 degrees Celsius.
Centre all set to appoint new interlocutor for Naga Peace talks
The present interlocutor R.N. Ravi, who was also the Governor of Nagaland, was shifted to Tamil Nadu last week. The Ministry has zeroed in on the name of the former Special Director of Intelligence Bureau Akshaya Kumar Mishra as a new interlocutor and soon the notification will be issued, sources said.

Pan-India raids to nab suspected terror module mastermind Humaid
It is alleged that Humaid, a relative of arrested accused Osama, who is a resident of Delhi's Jamia Nagar, was coordinating the entire terror network in India. The police are also looking for Osama's father Humaid-ur-Rehman. His whereabouts are unknown. "Last known location of Humaid was in Uttar Pradesh. We are in touch with Uttar Pradesh anti-terror squad and raids are being carried out at various places," said a top IPS officer privy to the probe.

UP administers 9 Cr vaccines, tops the list
The state has administered a total of 9.01 crore vaccine doses so far since the launch of the nationwide Covid vaccination drive in January, said the official spokesman on Thursday. The state administered over 3,61,787 doses of vaccine till late on Wednesday, taking the total tally to 9,01,51,915. According to an official release, the focused Covid vaccination drive in Uttar Pradesh has ensured that more than 1,53,61,007 people in the state are fully vaccinated. And more than 7,47,90,900 people have been inoculated with the first dose in the state.
Offences against states down by 26% in 2020: NCRB data
According to the data, Uttar Pradesh recorded 2,217 cases during the last year while the numbers were 2107 in 2019, followed by Tamil Nadu (668) and Assam (333). Jammu and Kashmir reported 317 offenses against the state which was 284 in 2019. A total of 66 cases of sedition under Section 124A of the IPC were reported in 2020.
Death toll due to heavy rains in Odisha rises to 6
According to a report of the office of Special Relief Commissioner P.K. Jena, three people in Kendrapara district and one each in Subarnapur and Ganjam districts died due to wall collapse, while one died in Khordha district due to drowning. Two other persons are reported missing from Cuttack and Balangir districts.

At least 24 accused have been killed and around 40 others injured since early May when police fired on them as the accused allegedly tried to escape from custody or during operations.
