Consider reservation in promotion, SC Commission tells Punjab

Hearing a petition, in the presence of Central and Punjab government officials in New Delhi, Commission Chairman Vijay Sampla asked the state to submit the progress report to the commission within two weeks. Punjab's Special Secretary, Home Affairs and Justice, Baldeep Kaur was among the officers present. The petitioner said the state had passed the Punjab Scheduled Castes and Backward Classes (Reservation in Services) Act of 2006.
'Khalistani-Kashmiri nexus in US could be detrimental for India'

In its report, the Hudson Institute also said that the activities of Khalistani groups located in North America should be investigated within the limits prescribed by US law to prevent a recurrence of the violence orchestrated by the Khalistan movement in the 1980s. It also apprehended the possibility of these groups receiving funding, support, and military training from Pakistan, which could have ties with terrorist groups operating in India.

In Rajasthan, 374 km of road is to be constructed under this expressway at a cost of Rs 16,600 crore, for which the work has been awarded. This expressway will strengthen the development in the districts of Alwar, Bharatpur, Dausa, Sawai Madhopur, Tonk, Bundi and Kota, he said adding that it will also bring in socio-economic transformation by developing farmers, tribals and youngsters.
ISI trained terrorists were to blow bridges, railway tracks in India

According to official sources, the two suspected terrorists -- Osama and Zeeshan -- who were trained by the ISI in Thatta of Pakistan's Sindh province, were instructed to do a recce of railway tracks. The interrogation revealed that the duo was also asked to acquire the details of the timings and route of the trains with more passengers so that the blast results in a high number of casualties.
Bhupendra Patel expands cabinet, 24 new ministers sworn in

Ten cabinet ministers, five ministers of state with independent charges, and nine ministers of state were sworn in by Governor Acharya Devvrat at the Raj Bhavan. No minister from the previous Vijay Rupani government was retained. The new cabinet ministers are Rajendra Trivedi, Jitu Vaghani, Rushikesh Patel, Purnesh Modi, Raghavji Patel, Kanubhai Desai, Kiritsinh Rana, Naresh Patel, Pradip Parmar and Arjunsinh Chauhan.

Venugopal, just 10 days before the former's retirement, and threatened to suo motu stay on the Tribunal Reforms Act of 2021.
Haryana to reopen schools for Class 1 to 3 from Sep 20

The Haryana government has decided to reopen the government and private schools for Class 1 to 3 from September 20. However, the online mode of education will also continue. The students willing to attend the schools will have to seek written permission from their parents, an order of the Education Department said.
India's daily Covid cases cross 30K after 4 days, surge in deaths too

This is the second consecutive day when the country has witnessed a surge in daily cases, according to the Union Health Ministry's report released on Thursday. Also, daily Covid cases in the country crossed the 30,000 mark after four days. The country reported 27,176 on Wednesday, 25,404 on Tuesday, and 28,591 on Monday. India also witnessed a spike in daily Covid deaths in the last 24 hours. Daily Covid related deaths for the last few days have been between 300 and 350. On Thursday it reported 431 deaths, pushing the total fatalities so far to 4,43,928.
PM inaugurates Defence Office Complexes, lashes out at Central Vista critics

The Prime Minister said that the people who are against the Central Vista Project conveniently ignore the fact that the defence complexes project is also a part of it. "These people ignore this fact so that they can continue spreading falsehood regarding the project," he said. About defence complexes he said that these new complexes will now make it feasible for the armed forces to operate in better working conditions with all modern amenities.
FAIFA applauds govt's push for digital technologies in farm sector
