IAF chief calls to augment combat capability of force through innovation, self-reliance
The Indian Air Force chief visited headquarters of the Central Air Command (CAC) at Uttar Pradesh's Prayagraj on Thursday for its Annual Commanders' Conference. He was received by Air Marshal R.J. Duckworth, Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief (AOC-in-C) CAC. A ceremonial Guard of Honour was presented to the Air Force Chief on arrival at the Command Headquarters.
Light rainfall to continue in Delhi-NCR
The sky will remain cloudy with the possibility of light rain till September 23, it added. In the last 24 hours till 8.30 a.m. on Friday, the Safdarjung Observatory recorded 13 mm of rainfall. Fake vax certificates sold for Rs 5,500 on Telegram: Report
According to Check Point Research (CPR), the black market for fake vaccine certificates has expanded globally, now selling certificates in 29 countries, including India, Australia, Indonesia, Singapore and Thailand. Since March, CPR has spotted over 5,000 Telegram groups selling fake documents, making it the primary selling platform.
Monsoon withdrawal from northwest India to be delayed: IMD
The IMD had last year announced the new normal dates for arrival and withdrawal of monsoon for various stations across India. Accordingly, September 17 is the date when the withdrawal is to commence from northwest India.
September rainfall in Delhi breaches 400 mm mark: IMD
The highest rainfall in last 121 years for the month of September was 417.3 mm in 1994. "But that was for the whole month from September 1 to 30th. We still need 13.2 mm rainfall to beat that record for calling September 2021 the wettest month in last 121 years," said India Meteorological Department's R.K. Jenamani.
Covid booster dose not central theme at the moment: ICMR chief
At a media briefing on the Covid situation in the country, Bhargava said that administering both doses of the vaccine is the major proirity now. Talking about the ongoing vaccination drive in the country, Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan said that 20 per cent of India's adult population have received both the doses of the vaccine, while 62 per cent have received at least one dose of the vaccine.
Delhi reports a Covid death after 8 days, logs 28 fresh cases
With the new cases and fatality, the case tally has gone up to 14,38,373, and the death toll to 25,084, according to the Delhi Health Department bulletin. The number of active cases stand at 409, of which 110 are being treated in home isolation. A total of 22 Covid patients were discharged in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of recoveries to 14,12,880, the bulletin said.
Jaishankar likely to hold discussions with Chinese counterpart at SCO summit
Jaishankar, who has reached the Tajik capital, will be holding bilateral talks with his counterparts from Tajikistan and Iran, Sirojiddin Muhriddin, and Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, respectively. Responding to a question, Bhargava said, "This is a provocative and attention-seeking article published at a time when India is doing good and our vaccination drive is also excellent. It is aimed at diverting attention.
