Union Minister Murugan's parents continue as farm labourers

That is Loganathan and Varudammal, the parents of L. Murugan, the newly sworn-in Minister of State for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Information Broadcasting. The couple live in Konur village in Namakkal district (around 400 km from here) and are leading their lives independently, states a report.
India's Covid vaccination coverage crosses 40 cr

Cumulatively, 40,49,31,715 vaccine doses were administered through 50,46,387 sessions, reveals the provisional report of Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) received till 7 a.m. on Sunday. More than 41.99 crore (41,99,68,590) vaccine doses have been provided to states and the Union Territories (UTs) so far through all sources and a further 15,75,140 doses are in the pipeline.
18 killed in Mumbai rain-related incidents

As Mumbai slept the skies opened up with torrential rains measuring between 150 mm to over 200 mm in some areas, submerging many areas and playing havoc with road and rail traffic. According to the BMC Disaster Cell and NDRF, at least 12 persons were killed when a wall collapsed after a tree fell at Vashi Naka in the Chembur area around 1 a.m.
Yogi to remain boss in UP as party gears up for assembly polls

A senior party functionary of Uttar Pradesh told IANS that now all the doubts among cadres about the party's face in next year's assembly polls have been removed. 10 killed in landslide as rains pound Mumbai, MMR

According to the NDRF and BMC, the landslide which occurred at around 1 a.m., crushed four to five hutments in the area. The NDRF and other teams which rushed there for rescue operations, have retrieved at least 10 bodies so far. Another six to seven people are feared trapped under the mounds of earth and efforts are underway to rescue them.

Bengal Guv goes to Delhi; state might move court against NHRC report

In its final report submitted to the Calcutta High Court, the NHRC not only criticised the state for its 'indifference' towards the post-poll violence and 'apathy' towards the victims, but also alleged that the state machinery played an important role in the violence. "The situation in the state of West Bengal is a manifestation of 'law of ruler', instead of 'Rule of Law'," the report said.

Culprits behind terror, intimidation website arrested in Kashmir

Police said in a J&K-wide operation, houses and properties at multiple locations including Sanat Nagar and Raj Bagh in Srinagar, Batpura in Hazratbal, Poonch, Jammu and Hawal in Pulwama belonging to five persons were searched. The five persons arrested have been identified as Nazish Yasrab Rehmani and Tabish Akbar Rehmani from Sanat Nagar, Sofi Md Akbar from Rajbagh, Peerzada Raqif Makhdoomi from Batpora Hazratbal and Javed Khalid from Poonch.
