Sharad Pawar meets PM Modi ahead of monsoon session

"Rajya Sabha MP Shri Sharad Pawar met PM Narendra Modi," the Prime Minister's Office tweeted. The monsoon session of Parliament is beginning on July 19. The meeting took pace amid reports over fissures in the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) coalition government in Maharashtra. On July 13, chief minister Uddhav Thackeray had said that he has always been against the Congress and the NCP politically.

Shah made the announcement while addressing the 18th Border Security Force (BSF) Investiture Ceremony. Noting that fencing on border with neighbouring Pakistan and Bangladesh is significant in view of security, Shah said, "There is no benefit of fencing the border if gaps are not completely filled. I want to ensure that there will be no gap in fencing on border by 2022."

While the Party has offered the post of deputy chief minister to his son B.Y. Vijayendra, Yediyurappa has apparently been insisting on the post of the state party president for him. The calculation is to go to the assembly elections under his son's leadership, thus making Vijayendra the natural choice for the CM post.
Petrol price moves up further, diesel rate unchanged

However, unlike uniform price movement earlier, oil marketing companies on Saturday increased the pump price of petrol only and kept diesel rates unchanged offering some relief to the transport sector. Accordingly, while the price of petrol increased by 30 paise per litre to Rs 101.84 a litre in Delhi, diesel price remained at Friday's level of Rs 89.87 a litre.

Pilot killed, trainee injured as aircraft crashes in fields

The incident occurred around 4 p.m., when the light training aircraft suddenly came crashing down, killing the pilot instantly and injuring the flying trainee, while horrified villagers informed the local police and district authorities, who rushed there led by local Tehsildar Anil Gavit. The victims have been identified as pilot-instructor Noorul Ameen, 28, hailing from Bengaluru, and trainee-pilot Anshika Gurjar, 22.
