New IT rules: SC refuses to stay proceeding before various HCs
The Centre had moved the Supreme Court seeking transfer of all petitions to it, citing multiplicity of proceedings. Several high courts, including Delhi, Bombay, Madras and Kerala High Courts are hearing petitions against the IT rules. A bench comprising of Justices A.M. In its plea, the Centre said, the issue of regulating the OTT platform was pending before the top court.
HC: Uniform Civil Code can't remain mere hope, modern India needs it
The court said that the hope expressed in Article 44 of the Constitution that the state shall secure for its citizens Uniform Civil Code "ought not to remain a mere hope". A single bench of Justice Prathiba M. Singh said, the need for a Uniform Civil Code as envisioned under Article 44, has been reiterated from time to time by the Supreme Court. She said courts have been repeatedly confronted with the conflicts that arise in personal laws.

No interim protection for Twitter, Centre free to act: Delhi HC
A bench of Justice Rekha Palli said: "It is made clear that since this court has not passed any interim order, this court has granted time to Respondent No 2 (Twitter Inc) to file affidavit, no protection is granted." The court added that it is open to Centre to take action against Twitter in case of any breach of the rules, as it adjourned the hearing in the matter till July 28.
