Meenakshi Lekhi is now the new Minister of State for External Affairs, and Culture, and S.P. Singh Baghel the Minister of State, Law and Justice among the new faces inducted on Wednesday. Shobha Karandlaje is the new Minister of State of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, while Bhanu Pratap Singh Verma is the Minister of State, Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises.
Flying Overhaul: Civil Aviation gets new ministers
Jyotiraditya Scindia has been brought in as the new Minister of Civil Aviation. He succeeds Hardeep Singh Puri who has now got the Ministry of Petroleum and retains the Urban Affairs Ministry. Besides, former Army chief-turned-politician General V.K. Singh (retd), the Minister of State in the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, is also the new Minister of State for Civil Aviation.

India, Italy carry out maritime drill to enhance military ties
Indian Naval Ship Tabar, which visited Naples, also undertook a maritime Partnership Exercise with ITS Antonio Marceglia (F597), a frontline frigate of the Italian Navy, on July 4 and July 5 in the Tyrrhenian Sea. The exercise covered a wide range of naval operations, including air defence procedures, replenishment at sea, communication drills, and cross deck helo operations by day and night.

For Sonowal, the former Assam Chief Minister, it is his second innings as a Union minister. While 12 ministers were axed, seven junior ministers have been promoted as Cabinet ministers. Minister of State in the Finance Ministry, Anurag Thakur, took oath as a Cabinet minister on Wednesday. MoS for Home, G. Kishan Reddy, and MoS for Agriculture, Parshottam Rupala, also got a promotion. Before the massive reshuffle, several heavyweight ministers had resigned, while 43 new faces joined the government.
Modi Cabinet gets makeover with emphasis on experience, qualification
In the new Council of Ministers, there are four former Chief Ministers, 18 former state ministers, 39 former MLAs and 23 MPs who have been elected for three or more terms. This demonstrates the wealth of experience in the new Cabinet as the government has been criticised for lack of bench strength and not having enough heft in administrative experience.
