Delhi Govt launches e-portal to apply for ex-gratia in Covid death

Under this scheme, an ex-gratia payment of Rs 50,000 for each death will be given to the family of the deceased and Rs 2,500 monthly to those families who have lost their breadwinners. Children, who lost their parents and became orphaned because of the pandemic, will be given Rs 2500 per month till they become 25 years old. The announcement regarding the ex-gratia was made on May 14.
Centre asks SC to transfer pleas against new IT rules to itself

The Centre has emphasised the petitions challenging the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021, should be transferred to the apex court for an authoritative pronouncement on the issue, said a source. The petitions have challenged the new IT Rules intended to regulate social media firms like Facebook, Twitter as well as OTT players.

Shah was informed by an advocate that the mother of the advocate-on-record, for the respondent, has expired, and he urged the bench to adjourn the matter for four weeks. Justice Shah also said that matter has been pending since 2019 and some counsel should argue it.
