43 ministers to take oath as PM Modi restructures govt
Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Karnataka, and Bihar will get strong representation in the Union Council of Ministers. The list includes former Chief Ministers Narayan Rane, (Maharashtra) and Sarbananda Sonowal (Assam). Seven-time MP from Madhya Pradesh, Virendra Kumar, and former Congress leader who joined the BJP, also from MP, Jyotiraditya M Scindia are part of the list.
SC seeks status report on vacancies in central, state info panels
A bench of Justices S. Abdul Nazeer and Krishna Murari gave four weeks to the Centre and state governments to file the latest status report in the matter. Advocate Prashant Bhushan, appearing for the petitioners, submitted that in 2019, directions were issued to fill up the vacancies, and argued against the practice of selection of bureaucrats, either to run the commission, or to be on the selection committee.
Delhi sees highest increase of NO2 in air pollution in last 1 year
As per its reports, between April 2020 and April 2021, NO2 pollution has increased in all the eight capitals of states studied -- Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai, Kolkata, Jaipur and Lucknow. The report claimed the national capital has seen the 'most dramatic increase' during the period. NO2 is a dangerous air pollutant that is released when fuel is burned.

Unitech money laundering case: ED attaches 3 land parcels of 2 dummy companies
An ED official said that the financial probe agency has attached three land parcels worth Rs 106.08 crore in Haryana's Gurugram in relation to the investigation being conducted against Unitech Group. The official said that these parcels had been purchased by two dummy entities of Chandras namely Erode Projects Pvt Limited and Kore communities Pvt Limited.
Mamata fined Rs 5 lakh by Calcutta High Court
Justice Chanda said that the settled practice was to approach the concerned judge with an application seeking recusal. However, Mamata Banerjee approached the Acting Chief Justice on the administrative side. When the case was first put up before the bench on June 18, no request for recusal was made, Justice Chanda noted. "I am unable to convince myself that there is a conflict of interest," Chanda said on Wednesday

Twenty four new faces are set to be inducted in the Modi government, the first big reshuffle of Modi 2.0. The reshuffle is being synchronised with exits of some minister including Harsh Vardhan, Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, Sadanand Gowda and Santosh Gangwar. The new faces set to join the Modi Cabinet include former Congress heavyweight Jyotiraditya Scindia who is now in the BJP.

India logs nearly 44K Covid cases, 930 deaths
Wednesday is the 29th consecutive day when India reported less than one lakh new coronavirus cases. The active cases have now come down below 5 lakh. The country has 4,59,920 active cases presently and has witnessed a total of 4,04,211 deaths so far. According to the Union Health Ministry, a total of 47,240 people have been discharged in the last 24 hours, taking the total discharge to 2,97,99,534 till date.
Top Hizbul commander killed in Kashmir encounter
Police said Mehrazuddin Halwai alias Ubaid was active in North Kashmir for several years and was involved in many acts of terror. "A contemporary of Hizbul Mujahideen's notorious terrorist Burhan Wani. While Burhan was engaged in series of civilian, security forces killings in South Kashmir, Mehrazuddin Halwai was involved in the killing of civilians, security forces in North Kashmir," police said.
