Questionable PILs cause problem to system, SC junks plea on Central Vista

The Supreme Court on Tuesday said genuine PILs do wonders, but questionable PILs cause problem to the system, while refusing to interfere with Delhi High Court's order, which dismissed a PIL seeking stay of construction of Central Vista Project during pandemic. The High Court had termed the PIL "motivated" and imposed cost of Rs one lakh on petitioners.
MHA hands over Jammu Air Force station attack case to NIA

The NIA took over the case from Jammu and Kashmir Police which started initial probe along with other investigating agencies under the Explosives Act and other laws. The case was initially registered by Satwari police station. The anti-terror agency formally took over the case after the MHA's permission. However, its officials had reached at the spot just a few hours after the blast took place.
J&K SPO killing: Foreign terrorist involved, says police

Vijay Kumar, Inspector General of Police (Kashmir) told reporters, "Two JeM militants carried out the attack on SPO Fayaz Ahmad at Hariparigam village in which the SPO, his wife and daughter were killed. Mukhtar Ansari wants TV in jail

Ansari made the plea during his appearance before Barabanki Chief Judicial Magistrate Rakesh, when a hearing was underway for the extension of his judicial custody in a forgery case on Monday through video conference. The forgery case is related to the registration of a bulletproof ambulance that Ansari allegedly used for moving between the Ropar jail in Punjab and various court in the state.
All states must implement one-nation, one ration card scheme by July 31: SC

A bench headed by Justice Ashok Bhushan passed a slew of directions to the Centre and state governments for the benefit of the migrant workers. The top court directed all state governments to implement one-nation, one ration card scheme, which allows migrant workers to avail ration benefits from any part of the country, by July 31.
Kerala gold smuggling: Notice to UAE Embassy

The Customs report has named three employees who were attached to the UAE Consulate office, here. Of the three, two are UAE nationals and the third an Egypt national. The notice which has now been given by the MEA to the UAE Embassy is with regards to the two UAE nationals and this is part of the procedure for the Customs going ahead in the case.
Sikhs seek action against conversion of 2 girls in Kashmir

The LGPC held an emergency meeting on Monday evening and requested Prime Minister Narendra Modi to ensure action against those responsible for the incident and frame a law against such forced conversions. The All-India Sikh Pratinidhi Mandal (AISPM) also condemned the incident and sought the intervention of the Prime Minister, Governor of J&K and the National Human Rights Commission.
UP government moves SC challenging Karnataka HC order granting protection to Twitter MD

The Karnataka HC on June 24 granted protection to Maheshwari in an FIR lodged by the Loni Police in Ghaziabad. The Ghaziabad police had issued notice to Maheshwari, asking him to appear at the Loni Police Station for questioning in the investigation connected with the viral video of the assault on an elderly Muslim man.
Not a package, another hoax: Rahul Gandhi on relief measures

"No family can spend Finance Minister's economic package on living, food, medical bills, school fees. Not a package, just another hoax," Rahul Gandhi said in a tweet. His remarks came a day after Sitharaman announced eight relief measures worth Rs 6,28,993 crore. India logs least daily Covid cases since March 18

It is for the second time in over two and half months that the death toll has come below the 1,000-mark and the 11th consecutive day in the last two months when the toll has been below the 2,000-mark. The total caseload rose to 3,03,16,897 after India crossed the mark of over three crore Covid cases last Wednesday.
