The letter came few days after chief minister Mamata Banerjee objected to the assignment of Justice Kausik Chanda for hearing her petition challenging the election of BJP's Suvendu Adhikari, alleging that Chanda has a long association with the BJP. The chief minister wrote to Bindal to reassign the case to some other judge. The case is still pending with the court.

India's Covid deaths dip below 1K first time in 2 months
This is for the first time in over two and half months that the death toll has come below the 1,000-mark and the 11th consecutive day in the last two months when the toll has been below the 2,000-mark. The total caseload rose to 3,02,79,331 as India crossed the mark of over three crore Covid cases last Wednesday.

The US-headquartered micro-blogging platform's website does not show his name, as mandated under Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules 2021. Twitter declined to comment on the matter. On the website, the grievance officer contact information for users in India is listed as Jeremy Kessel, who is based out of San Francisco, US.
Covid tally dips below 100, Delhi to open more from Monday
With four more deaths reported on Sunday, Delhi's Covid toll rose to 24,965 since the pandemic started early last year. During the same time period, 285 people recovered from the disease, taking the national capital's total number of recoveries to 14,07,401 till date. Delhi presently has 1,568 active cases, with the number of patients under home isolation dropping to 478.
Lakha Sidhana, others booked for Chandigarh protest
A case under Sections 186, 188, 332, 353, 147, 148 and 149 of the IPC has been registered at Sector 17 police station. The police said another case has been registered against Punjabi singer Jass Bajwa and actress Sonia Mann, who were also part of the protest march. The farm activists and leaders marched into Chandigarh on Saturday to submit a memorandum to revoke the three farm legislations to the Punjab Governor.
