The plea filed by the CM, through advocate Astha Sharma, said the HC order is against all canons of substantial justice, more so in light of the fact that the CBI was able to not only get an urgent listing but also stay of the order passed by the special CBI judge on May 17, without filing any pleadings along with requisite affidavits, merely on the basis of an e-mail, without any notice to the parties concerned, including the petitioner.

Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, representing the Centre, submitted before a bench comprising Justices Ashok Bhushan and M.R. Shah that it is not the case that government doesn't have funds to pay ex-gratia of Rs 4 lakh to kin of Covid victims, but the focus on expenditure is wholistic, which includes using the funds for rehabilitation, mitigation, preparedness.

Centre begins Covid vax awareness campaign to allay fears
