40 cases of Delta Plus variant found in India

A total of 21 cases of the new strain have been found in Maharashtra, six in Madhya Pradesh, three each in Kerala and Tamil Nadu, two in Karnataka and one each in Punjab, Andhra Pradesh and Jammu, said sources. The MoHFW on Tuesday also informed that the Delta Plus variant of Covid-19 was found in Maharashtra's Ratnagiri and Jalgaon; Kerala's Palakkad and Pathanamthitta; and Madhya Pradesh's Bhopal and Shivpur.
India records 50K Covid cases, crosses 3 crore-mark

India recorded 50,848 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours taking the country's total caseload to over three crores, according to data released by the Union Health and Family Welfare Ministry on Wednesday. As it continued with a declining trend of coronavirus infection, the country reported 1,358 deaths.
Smuggler shot dead by BSF along Indo-Pak border in Jammu

The Border Security Force (BSF) on Wednesday said it foiled a narcotic smuggling bid by seizing heroin and killing a smuggler at a border outpost along the International Border in the Kathua district of Jammu and Kashmir. BSF officials said a smuggler was shot dead and 27 packets of heroin were recovered at border outpost Pansar in Hira Nagar.
2 terrorists with pistols shot dead J&K police inspector

Police said at about 8 p.m. on Tuesday evening, two unidentified terrorists fired indiscriminately upon a police inspector, in front of the local mosque, while he was going for prayer at 8 p.m. at the Menganwaji Nowgam area of Srinagar district. Senior police officers reached at the terror crime spot and inspected the scene of the crime.

He said this meeting was called by the Rashtra Manch and was only organised at the residence of Pawar. A NIA spokesperson here said that the anti-terror probe agency arrested Harbhinder Singh aka Pinder and Navpreet Singh aka Nav, both residents of Tarn Taran district of Punjab on Monday. They were produced before a Special NIA Court in Mohali which sent them to four days NIA custody.
