CBI raids premises of Crompton Greaves in bank fraud case

A CBI official related to probe told IANS, "Agency sleuths are carrying out searches at the premises of Crompton Greaves in Mumbai and Delhi in connection with a bank fraud case based on the complaint of the bank." The CBI also carried out searches at 14 locations including at Delhi NCR, Lucknow, Secunderabad and Kolkata which has led to the recovery of incriminating documents and digital evidence.
Govt asks social media companies to delete fake accounts within 24hrs of notice

The move has come as part of the new IT Rules that came into force recently. The need to remove fake accounts has been linked to the misuse and privacy violations of other individuals. Fake social media accounts that impersonate celebrities, business, politicians or any other known personalities by using their pictures would be removed within 24 hours of complaint.

India reports over 54K new Covid cases in 24 hours

India crossed the mark of over three crore caseload of Covid on Wednesday. This is the seventh consecutive day in the last two months when the toll has been below the 2,000-mark. The overall tally of Covid-19 cases in the country now stands at 3,00,82,778. India has become the second country after the US to record more than three crore cases of Covid. India added one crore cases in the last 50 days.
Praveen Sinha appointed as Special Director of CBI

"The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has appointed Praveen Sinha as the Special Director of CBI for a tenure up to his superannuation on April 30, 2022, from the date of assumption of charge, or until further orders, whichever is earlier," the Department of Personnel and Training said. The post of Special Director is the second senior-most position in the CBI after the Director. The post was vacant for the last three years.
Nagaland Governor RN Ravi criticises NSCN-IM over 'tax collection'

"During the operation, the terrorists were given an opportunity to surrender, but they fired indiscriminately upon the joint search party, which was retaliated leading to an encounter," the police said.

Delhi reports 111 new Covid cases, 16 lakh fully vaccinated

With seven more deaths reported in the last 24 hours, Delhi's total death due to Covid rose to 24,940. During the same time period, 702 people recovered from the disease, taking the national capital's total recoveries to 14,06,629 till date. Delhi presently has 1,791 active cases, of which 522 are under home isolation.
