India gears up for robot campaigners in 2022 Assembly polls

Onestand India Pvt Ltd has developed a humanoid robot called 'DOOT' for this purpose, which can communicate and deliver the impression of a human being with excellent voice recognition, face recognition and gestures. The states that go to the polls in 2022 are Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Goa and Gujarat.

J&K's Mawya becomes 12th fighter pilot in IAF

Flying officer Mawya Sudan from Jammu and Kashmir's Rajouri district has become the 12th woman officer in the country to be inducted as a fighter pilot in the Indian Air Force (IAF). Daughter of Sushma and Vinod Sudan belonging to Lamberi village of Nowshera tehsil in Rajouri district, Mawya was commissioned into the IAF as a flying officer on Saturday.
Students seek fee reduction through social media campaign

"Some law schools and technical universities across the country have reduced the fees and students have been refunded the examination fees considering the pandemic situation. When there is no examination, why should the students pay examination fees," said one of the students, spearheading the campaign.
MHA directs states to take action against assault on healthcare workers

The ministry made it mandatory for the states and the UTs to take all centrally advised measures for the protection of the healthcare professionals on a "priority" basis. Union Home Secretary Ajay Kumar Bhalla issued the new advisory citing similar orders issued by the ministry on April 27 and June 9 this year in connection with the security concerns relating to healthcare establishments and professionals.

"In a case where the allegation is that life and property of the residents of the State are in danger on account of alleged post poll violence, the State cannot be allowed to proceed in the manner it likes. The complaints required immediate action... It is the duty of the State to maintain law and order and inspire confidence in the residents of the State," the High Court observed.
Mamata vs Suvendu: Nandigram poll result hearing deferred

The Chief Minister had filed a petition against her one-time aide and now the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Leader of Opposition, Adhikari, in the Calcutta High Court challenging his win in the election from Nandigram and prayed to the court for declaring the election null and void. Banerjee had contested and lost the election from Nandigram against Adhikari.
