'Miscarriage of justice': HC sets aside bail to Shivender Singh in EOW case

The RFL had moved a plea in the High Court against the March 3 trial court order granting bail to Shivender Mohan Singh in the case registered against him by the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) for cheating, criminal conspiracy and criminal breach of trust. A bench of Justice Suresh Kumar Kait noted that Shivender Mohan Singh's detention was necessary to unearth the conspiracy hatched and trace the siphoned off money.
Forest cover in India enhanced up to one-fourth of country's area: Modi at UN

In his keynote virtual address on 'High-Level Dialogue on Desertification, Land Degradation and Drought' at the UN, the Prime Minister said the total combined forest cover of India has been raised to almost one-fourth of the country's total area. Modi spoke at the opening segment in his capacity as the President of the 14th Session of the Conference of Parties of United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD).
Chirag Paswan ousted as leader of LJP in Lok Sabha

The LJP was founded by Chirag Paswan's father Ram VIlas Paswan, who passed away in October last year. Five out of the six LJP MPs in the Lok Sabha went against Chirag Paswan, leaving him isolated in his own party, which was formed by his father 21 years ago. Chirag Paswan had taken over the reins of the party after the demise of his father ahead of the Bihar Assembly elections last year.
CISF takes over security of Bharat Biotech

The CISF deployed 64 personnel headed by an Inspector-rank officer as part of the security for Bharat Biotech, the developer and manufacturer of Covaxin, India's first indigenously-developed vaccine for Covid-19. The contingent of the paramilitary force was inducted at a ceremony held at the facility located in Genome Valley, the cluster of biotechnology companies.
AIADMK expels 17 leaders for having spoken to Sasikala

The meeting also passed a resolution against Sasikala, castigating her for "reaching out" to certain party leaders. The resolution also accused her of trying to capture the party and staging a drama by speaking to certain leaders and then selectively leaking parts of the conversations. Sasikala had tried to enter Tamil Nadu politics with a bang after she was released from Bangalore Central prison after serving four years' imprisonment.

Delhi HC declines to stay order asking IMA chief not to use platform to promote religion

Justice Asha Menon declined to pass any ex-parte order as nobody appeared on behalf of the complainant in the trial court. In a June 4 order, the trial court had cautioned Jayalal that loose comments cannot be expected from a person chairing the responsible post. The high court said it will examine the trial court order and issued a notice on Jayalal's plea. The high court has scheduled the matter for further hearing on June 16.
MHA notification on citizenship for non-Muslims not linked to CAA, SC told

The MHA, in an affidavit, said: "It is submitted that the notification dated May 28, 2021, has no relation whatsoever with the CAA." "Similar delegation of power has been permitted by Central government in 2004, 2005, 2006, 2016 and 2018 also. It is submitted that the notification dated May 28, 2021 does not relate to the Citizenship (Amendment) Act, 2019 (CAA), which has been inserted into the Act as section 6B."
SC should take cognisance of Ram temple land purchase deal: Congress

Addressing a press conference virtually on Monday, Randeep Surjewala, General Secretary of the party said, "the trust was established on the direction of the Supreme Court and now the court should take cognisance of the issue and investigate the matter." He said the court should audit all the accounts and make public the report including the purchase of the land.
RCP Singh has some tough words for Chirag Paswan

Singh said that digesting success is not an easy thing for all. You can achieve something but maintaining it is a big thing. Chirag Paswan failed on this account. "Chirag Paswan has committed so many blunders in the recent past. The people of Bihar and his own party workers and leaders were not happy with whatever he did during the Bihar assembly election. Now, it's results are coming in the form of a split in the party," Singh said.
