India pushes for more vaccine supplies as Jaishankar begins US visit
On his first visit to New York after India entered the UN Security Council on the first day of January 2021, Jaishankar is expected to meet UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres. The minister then travels to Washington DC, where he will hold discussions with his counterpart, the US Secretary of State Antony Blinken. He will also be meeting cabinet members and senior officials of the Biden administration dealing with the bilateral relationship.
Mathura: Woman held trying to sell minor daughter
This is not her first attempt at selling. Seven years back she apparently sold her eldest child and herself to a man for Rs 40,000. Now he is her husband. Both the younger daughters of the woman have been taken into custody by the district administration and sent to government's child shelter home after conducting their medical examination on the orders of the Child Welfare committee Mathura.

Yaas intensifies into cyclonic storm, to move north-northwest
The cyclone in Bay of Bengal laid centered at 5.30 a.m. on Monday near latitude 16.3 degree north and longitude 89.7 degree east, about 600 km north-northwest of Port Blair (Andaman Islands), 540 km south-southeast of Paradip (Odisha), 650 km south-southeast of Balasore (Odisha) and 630 km south-southeast of Digha (West Bengal).
Delhi's Madam Tussauds to reopen from April 2022
London's famous Madame Tussauds is run by a company called Merlin Entertainments India Private Limited. The renowned wax museum will be opened at a new venue in one of the top malls in Delhi-National Capital Region (NCR). All the formalities regarding the new place have been completed, though some issues are yet to be resolved. Madame Tussauds was closed in March 2020 due to the global Covid-19 pandemic.
Vax drive in UP goes awry: Hesitancy, rumour push villagers into river
In Sisoda village in Barabanki -- where a group of residents jumped into the Saryu river to evade vaccination on Sunday -- the residents remain firm in their decision of not getting the jab. Shishupal, a local farmer, said, "People have died even after getting vaccinated. I know of those who have had to be hospitalised after the jab. Jab marna hi hai to vaccine kyon?"
New cases drop to month's lowest as Covid deaths cross 3L
On Monday, with 2,22,315 fresh cases in 24 hours, India witnessed the lowest rise in infection since April 21, according to the Union Health and Family Welfare Ministry. India's overall tally of Covid-19 cases now stands at 2,67,52,447 with 27,20,716 active cases and 3,03,720 deaths so far.
Wrestler murder case: Sushil Kumar sent to 6 days police custody
The police questioned Sushil Kumar inside the court and then sought his custody for 12 days for further interrogation in the matter. Duty Metropolitan Magistrate Divya Malhotra, however, granted six-day custody of him, along with co-accused Ajay. Delhi logs 1,649 fresh Covid cases, lowest since March 30
The daily positivity rate also declined to 2.42 per cent, lowest since March 28, when the Delhi's daily positivity rate was reported at 2.35 per cent. This is also the third straight day when the capital's positivity rate remained below the 5 per cent mark.
