641 govt websites, social media accounts hacked in last 5 yrs: Centre

According to Union Minister of Information and Broadcasting, Anurag Thakur, they have tracked a total number of 175, 114, 61, 77, 186 and 28 websites, emails and social media accounts which were hacked during the year 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022 (upto February) respectively. Thakur said the government has taken several measures to enhance the cyber security posture and prevent cyber-attacks.
Don't want to use word, but legislature has been dumb: SC

A bench headed by Justice K.M. Joseph orally observed: "We do not want to use the word, but legislature has been dumb in this regard. We don't want to use the word but that is the word." It noted that that every case ultimately ends up before the top court, as it highlighted that the legislature was not correct in providing statutory appeals against orders of the National Green Tribunal (NGT) directly to the Supreme Court.
Bill to unify Delhi MCDs cleared by Parliament

MCD (Amendment) Bill, 2022, passed by the Lok Sabha on March 31, unifies the civic bodies "with an aim to provide greater transparency, improved governance and more efficient delivery of civic service for the people of Delhi". Replying to the debate on this Bill, Home Minister Amit Shah rejected the Opposition's claim that the Central government cannot bring this amendment and said that it was not against the federal structure as the National Capital Territory of Delhi is not a complete state.
Six-fold hike in budget for security of Indo-China border over previous year: MHA

Responding to a question asked by BJP MP Dilip Saikia, the Minister of State for Home Affairs Nityanand Rai said that the funds allocated for the security of border areas of the North East states have been utilised within the stipulated time frame. Listing out the funds allocated under BIM, he said the MHA has increased BIM funds for the Indo-China border areas from Rs 42.87 crore in 2020-21 to Rs 249.12 crore in 2021-22 that is nearly around six times higher than the last year.
In likely strongest statement, India 'unequivocally' condemns civilian killings in Bucha

"Recent reports of civilian killings in Bucha are deeply disturbing. We unequivocally condemn these killings and support the call for an independent investigation," India's Permanent Representative to the UN, T.S. Tirumurti, said at the Security Council. While making probably the harshest criticism of Moscow's invasion of Ukraine, Tirumurti straddled the fine line of neutrality by not naming Russia.
ISRO likely to probe mystery objects' 'sky-fall' in Maharashtra's Chandrapur

Chandrapur Collector Ajay Gulhane told IANS that he had requested the ISRO to investigate the incident soon after it happened. However, the ISRO has still not confirmed whether it will send a probe team, he added. Social media posts attributed to ISRO said that inputs from various sources were received on the mysterious flashing lights seen in the sky during the evening of April 3 in Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh.
India reports 795 fresh Covid cases, 58 deaths

Following a continuous downward trend, India's active caseload has declined to 12,054. Active cases now constitute 0.03 per cent of the country's total positive cases. 1,000 cases for the second consecutive day on Tuesday were reported after 795 new Covid cases were recorded in a span of 24 hours.

But when it comes to the Kashmir issue, he gets angry. He also added, that he never reprimanded anyone, his voice is loud which evoked laughter from the members of the House.
Fuel prices hiked for 13th time in 15 days

In the past 15 days, petrol prices have increased by Rs 9.40 per litre in the national capital. These prices were revised for the very first time on March 22 after a gap of more than four months. On Monday, the price of petrol and diesel in New Delhi were increased by 80 paise per litre.
Vinay Kwatra named India's next Foreign Secretary

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the appointment of Kwatra to the post. Kwatra, with an experience of nearly 32 years in a range of assignments, is currently serving as the Indian Ambassador in Nepal since March 2020. He has worked in Prime Minister Narendra Modi's office from 2015 to 2017 as Joint Secretary, and subsequently, went to France as India's Ambassador.
