India-Nepal open borders should not be misused by unwanted elements: Modi

In 2020, India and Nepal had a strained bilateral relationship over border row between the two countries. China which already had made aggression towards India at the Line of Actual Control in Eastern Ladakh region was making all efforts to amplify the row between India and Nepal relations. Talking about power sector, Modi said that both the countries must reap the benefits of the opportunities for cooperation in the power sector. He said that Nepal Prime Minister is an old friend of India.
India reports 1,260 new Covid cases, 83 deaths in 24 hrs

Amid a continuous downward trend, India's active caseload has further declined to 13,445, constituting 0.03 per cent of the country's total positive cases. A total of 1,404 patients have recovered in the last 24 hours, taking the cumulative tally to 4,24,92,326. The country's recovery rate stands at 98.76 per cent.

Modi meets Lavrov, reiterates call for early cessation of violence

According to a statement issued by the Ministry of External Affairs, Lavrov briefed the Prime Minister on the situation in Ukraine, including the ongoing peace negotiations. Modi reiterated his call for an early cessation of violence, and conveyed India's readiness to contribute in any way to the peace efforts, the statement said. The meeting lasted for 40 minutes during which Lavrov also informed the Prime Minister about various bilateral initiatives.
Russia-Ukraine conflict impacting Indian shipping companies: Govt

More fall out of the war is that insurance cover has been withdrawn by the Protection and Indemnity (P&I), payment affected due to blockage of SWIFT in Russia, and trade to Russia and CIS countries has been affected as shipping lines are not accepting goods for Russian ports, Shipping Minister Sarbananda Sonowal told the Lok Sabha in a written reply.
