PM Modi, Johnson discuss Ukraine situation, bilateral issues
As per the statement, the two leaders had a detailed discussion on the situation in Ukraine, and Modi reiterated India's consistent appeal for cessation of hostilities and a return to the path of dialogue and diplomacy. He emphasised India's belief in respect for international law and the territorial integrity and sovereignty of all states, as the basis of the contemporary world order.
India reports 1,581 fresh Covid cases, 33 deaths
In the last 24 hours, India reported 1,581 new Covid-19 cases and 33 deaths, the Union Health Ministry announced on Tuesday. The new fatalities increased the nationwide death toll to 5,16,543. Following a continuous downward trend, India's active caseload has further declined to 23,913, constituting 0.06 per cent of the country's total positive cases.

New Delhi world's most polluted capital city for 2nd consecutive year
New Delhi has been ranked the world's most polluted capital city for a second consecutive year followed by Dhaka (Bangladesh), N'Djamena (Chad), Dushanbe (Tajikistan) and Muscat (Oman). Of the 15 most polluted cities in Central and South Asia in 2021, 12 were in India. New Delhi saw a 14.6% increase in PM2.5 concentration in 2021, 96.4 Ig/m3, up from 84 Ig/m3 in 2020. The annual PM2.5 concentration averages in 48% of India's cities, exceeded 50 Ig/m3 or more than 10 times the WHO air quality guidelines.

22,500 Indians returned from Ukraine: Govt
Around 22,500 Indian nationals have returned from Ukraine to India from February 1 to March 11, the Parliament was informed on Monday. "(A total of) 90 evacuation flights were operated under 'Operation Ganga' including 14 Indian Air Force flights," Minister of State for Civil Aviation, Gen V.K. Singh (retd) told the Rajya Sabha in a written reply.
Padma Awards 2022: Gen Bipin Rawat conferred award posthumously
The two Padma Vibhushan were presented posthumously to Gen Bipin Rawat, former CDS, and Radhey Shyam Khemka of Geeta Press, Gorakhpur. The Padma Bhushan awards were conferred upon senior Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad, Punjabi singer Gurmeet Bawa (posthumously), Tata Sons' N. Chandrashekharan while Najma Akhtar, Vice Chancellor, Jamia Millia Islamia was among those who were awarded Padma Shri.
Biren Singh sworn-in as Manipur CM for 2nd term
A day after he was named as the leader of the newly-elected BJP legislators in the state, Singh was administered the oath of office by Governor La Ganesan during a ceremony at the Raj Bhavan here. Want three farm laws but with reforms: SC panel
Stating that farmers had faced a loss of $40 billion per year due to the Essential Commodities Act, one of the members, Anil Ghanwat who on Monday released the report to the media, said this overrides whatever subsidies that the farmers are given and suggested changes. The Supreme Court had appointed the committee in January 2021 and it had submitted the report in March 2021 but neither the Court released the report nor the Centre used it in any form.
