US delegation to hold senior-level consultations with India during South Asia trip

According to the State Department, the interagency delegation headed by Under Secretary for Political Affairs Victoria Nuland will visit India, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka to "underscore US commitment to, and cooperation with, Indo-Pacific partners". The three countries abstained on the UNGA resolution condemning the Russian invasion, but the Department made no mention of the Ukraine situation in the delegation's agenda.
India reports 2,528 new Covid cases, 149 deaths

In the last 24 hours, India reported 2,528 new Covid-19 cases and 149 deaths, the Union Health Ministry announced on Friday. The new fatalities increased the nationwide death toll to 5,16,281. Following a continuous downward trend, India's active caseload has further declined to 29,181, constituting 0.07 per cent of the country's total positive cases.
Heat wave continues, max temperature at 43.5 at Nalgonda in Telangana

The highest temperature across India was reported at Nalgonda in Telangana at 43.5-degree Celsius. Severe heat wave conditions were observed at most parts over West Rajasthan, in many pockets over Himachal Pradesh and in some pockets in Jammu division, while heat wave conditions prevailed over many pockets of Saurashtra-Kutch, Vidarbha and in some places over parts of Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh, IMD said.

They have called for fresh and time-bound procurement of new fighter aircrafts, in a report which was tabled in the Parliament on Wednesday. “During evidence, the representatives of the Air Force submitted that the present authorized strength of the squadron is 42. It was further stated that the total technical life of most of the existing squadron is expiring and consequently, the squadron strength is progressively depleting,” the report said.
