No constitutional infirmity in One Rank One Pension scheme: SC

The Supreme Court on Wednesday said the One Rank-One Pension (OROP) scheme is a policy decision and the court finds no constitutional infirmity in the principle as defined by the communication issued by the government on November 7, 2015. A bench headed by Justice D.Y. Chandrachud said: "We find no constitutional infirmity in the OROP principle as defined by the communication dated 7 November 2015."
'India far behind in defence R&D expenditure compared to China, US'

The standing committee report on demands for grants for DRDO presented in the Parliament on Wednesday expressed concern that the percentage of expenditure for defence research and development in the overall GDP during the past years has seen no growth. According to the DMRC, Prafull Singh is the first person to travel to all 254 stations covering 348 kms in just 16 hrs and two minutes. With this feat, he has entered into the Guinness World Records for recording the 'Fastest time to travel to all Metro stations'.

PM urges children in 12-14 age group to get vaccinated

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday urged children in the 12-14 age group to get vaccinated and all those above 60 years to take the "precautionary" jabs. In January 2021, the vaccination drive for doctors, healthcare and frontline workers was launched. India logs 2,876 fresh Covid-19 cases, 98 deaths

India registered 2,876 fresh Covid-19 infections in last 24 hours, a marginal rise from 2,568 cases reported on the previous day, Union Health ministry said on Wednesday. In the same period, 98 deaths have also been reported, taking the total number of deaths to 5,16,072.
3 terrorists killed in Srinagar gunfight

Three terrorists have been killed in an encounter with the security forces in the Nowgam area of Central Kashmir's Srinagar district, officials said on Wednesday. The three belong to the proscibed terror outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), said the police. As the security forces zeroed in on the spot where the terrorists were hiding they came under a heavy volume of fire that triggered the encounter.
Encounter breaks out at Nowgam in Srinagar

An encounter has started between terrorists and security forces at Nowgam area in Jammu and Kashmir's Srinagar district, officials said on Wednesday. The firefight between terrorists and security forces took place after a joint team of the police and the security forces cordoned off the area and launched a search operation on the basis of specific information about presence of terrorists.
