India reports marginal rise in new Covid cases

India reported 1,938 fresh Covid cases, marginally higher than the previous day's count of 1,778, in a span of 24 hours. In the same period 67 deaths were also recorded taking the total number of deaths to 5,16,672, said the Union Health ministry on Thursday morning. Meanwhile, following a continuous downward trend, India's active caseload has further declined to 22,427 Thursday, constituting 0.05 per cent of the country's total positive cases.
Rape even by husband is rape: Karnataka HC

Equating sexual assault by a husband on his wife with rape, the Karnataka high court (HC) has refused to quash proceedings against a man accused of alleged rape by his wife. "A man is a man; an act is an act; rape is a rape, be it performed by a man, the 'husband', on the woman, 'wife'," said Justice M. Nagaprasanna on Wednesday.
China has no locus standi to comment on J&K: India

"Matters related to the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir are entirely the internal affairs of India. Other countries including China have no locus standi to comment. They should note that India refrains from public judgement of their internal issues." Attending the OIC meet - in China's first presence at the OIC, the Chinese Foreign Minister said that "on the Kashmir issue, we have once again heard the call of many Islamic friends. Bhiwadi in Rajasthan becomes world' most polluted city

Bhiwadi, the industrial town of Alwar district in Rajasthan, has left behind Delhi in topping the air pollution charts on world index for the year 2021. IQAir, which monitors air pollution around the world, has released its 2021 Global Air Quality Report covering 6,475 cities in 117 countries. According to this report, Bhiwadi is the most polluted city.

Following a continuous downward trend, India's active caseload further declined to 23,087 on Wednesday, constituting 0.05 per cent of the country's total positive cases. A total of 2,542 patients have recovered in the last 24 hours and the cumulative tally of recovered patients since the beginning of the pandemic is now at 4,24,73,057. Consequently, India's recovery rate stands at 98.75 per cent.
