India logs 1,660 new Covid cases, 0.04% active cases

India reported 1,660 fresh Covid-19 infections in the past 24 hours, a marginal decline from 1,685 cases reported on the previous day, the Union Health Ministry said on Saturday. Meanwhile, following a continuous downward trend, the country's active caseload has further declined to 16,741 this morning, constituting 0.04 per cent of the country's total positive cases. In the same period, 4,100 fatalities were also registered, pushing the total number number of deaths to 5,20,855.
Modi to attend BIMSTEC summit on March 30

BIMSTEC is a regional organisation that was established on June 6, 1997, with the signing of the Bangkok Declaration. "The summit meeting, which is being held in virtual mode, will be hosted by Sri Lanka, the current BIMSTEC chair," the Ministry of External Affairs said on Saturday. The Centre is considering granting online voting rights to Indians working abroad, Union Law Minister Kiren Rijiju said during the Question Hour in the Lok Sabha on Friday. "I have already told the Election Commission that we will make provisions and give suggestions as to how we will allow our people staying outside the country to cast their votes," Rijiju said while replying to a question on 'Pravasi' voting rights raised by Congress member K. Muraleedharan.
