India's Omicron tally crosses 3,000, Maharashtra nearing 1,00-mark
As per the health ministry, the Omicron infection has spread to 27 states and UTs. However, Maharashtra and Delhi continue to be the worst-hit states. Of the total, 1,199 people have recovered from the new strain nationwide so far, it added.
Covid vax for teens: Doctors advise not to take paracetamol
The advice was issued in response to growing concerns that some immunisation centres are advising children to take three paracetamol 500 mg tablets after receiving the Covid vaccine. Taking paracetamol without consulting a doctor can harm children, the health experts warned.

On Wednesday, The Prime Minister's rally in Ferozepur had to be cancelled due to a security lapse after some protesters blocked a route and forced his convoy to spend about 20 minutes on a flyover. The Prime Minister was enroute the National Martyrs Memorial at Hussainiwala when the incident happened. The Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM) on Thursday claimed in a statement that they had planned protests on receiving the news of Prime Minister's proposed visit to Punjab on January 5.
Cabinet approves Green Energy Corridor's second phase
The scheme, which entails addition of approximately 10,750 circuit kilometres of transmission lines and approx 27,500 MVA transformation capacity of substations, will facilitate grid integration and power evacuation of approximately 20 GW of RE power projects in seven states - Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, and Uttar Pradesh. The scheme is targeted to be set up with a total estimated cost of Rs.12,031.33 crore and Central Financial Assistance (CFA) at 33 per cent of the project cost i.e. Rs. 3,970.34 crore, a cabinet communique said.
India's first open rock museum comes up in Hyderabad
The museum displays around 35 different varieties of rocks from different parts of India with ages ranging from 3.3 billion years to around 55 million years. These rocks also represent the deepest part of the Earth, up to 175 km of distance from the surface of the earth. India strongly objects to illegal construction of bridge on Pangong Lake by China
Talking about reports about a bridge being built by the neighbouring country on the Chinese side of Pangong lake, Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Arindam Bagchi said, "The government has been monitoring this activity closely. This bridge is being constructed in areas that have been under illegal occupation by China for around 60 years now. As you are well aware, India has never accepted such illegal occupation."
At 15,097 fresh Covid cases, Delhi sees 41% rise in a day
Total 6 Covid deaths have been reported in the last 24 hours, pushing the death toll to 25,127. Meanwhile, the Covid infection in the city has climbed at 15.34 per cent, highest in last eight months. According to the Delhi Health department, the city had recorded 17.02 per cent positivity rate on May 12. The number of active Covid cases has jumped at 31,498 highest since May 21. According to the Health Department, Delhi had recorded the highest 35,683 active Covid cases on that day.
