'In national interest..': SC for start of counselling, reserves order on EWS quota in NEET-PG admissions
A bench comprising Justices D.Y. Chandrachud and A.S. Bopanna said: "We are in a situation, where in the national interest, the counselling has to begin." Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, representing the Centre, argued that all candidates eligible for the EWS quota, as per existing criteria, have got their certificates for registration and added that seats in all government colleges have been increased to accommodate the EWS quota.

Of the total, 995 people have so far recovered, the Ministry said, adding that the variant has been detected in 26 states and UTs till date. Maharashtra tops the list with 797 Omicron cases, of which 330 patients have been discharged. The state reported 144 new Omicron cases in the last 24 hours.

Delhi likely to record 14,000 Covid-19 cases today: Health Minister
"Coronavirus cases in Delhi have seen a spike in the past few days. Today it is going to be near 14,000," Jain said. Currently, the death ratio is 1 on 1000, indicating that the situation is fine as compared to last time. "Yesterday we had 9,000 beds, today it has become 12,000, so our preparations are complete. We are now conducting close to 90,000 tests," the minister added.
