The body of the youth beaten to death on Sunday was sent for post-mortem and a report was prepared by a board of five doctors. Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi on Friday said that there was no sign of sacrilege attempt in the Kapurthala incident. The boy was accused of disrespecting the Nishan Sahib, the Sikh religious flag.

India reports 6,650 new Covid cases, Omicron tally rises to 358

India registered 6,650 new Covid cases and 374 deaths in 24 hours. With the addition of the new deaths, the toll has climbed to 4,79,133. The Omicron infection tally has climbed to 358 across the nation. However, out of total Omicron positive, 114 have been discharged. So far 17 states have reported Omicron infection, said the Union health ministry.

An Andhra Pradesh forest department official said a group of local fishermen on December 18 rescued a shark trapped in a shore fishing net at Tantadi beach in Visakhapatnam. Visakhapatnam District Forest Officer (DFO) Anant Shankar, said the whale shark was guided back to the sea by the forest department officials, fishermen and wildlife conservationists.

Arunachal to develop 3 'Model Villages' along China, Myanmar

The Chief Minister said that a special scheme for 'Model Villages' was recently launched that aims to develop selected border villages with all facilities by dovetailing various Central and state government schemes. "The scheme would be fully implemented in the coming years, but as of now we have selected three villages under it. You may be pleased to know that all the three villages are in Anjaw district. They are Kaho, Musai and Kibithoo".
Delhi gears up to handle 1 lakh daily cases amid Omicron scare

The government will also increase the daily Covid testing capacity from around 60,000 to 70,000 at present, to 3 lakh per day, while strengthening the home isolation module to handle 1 lakh positive cases daily.
