Defence Department spokesperson Lt Col Martin Meiners said on Thursday: "Building on growing bilateral ties, US and Indian officials discussed new opportunities to strengthen multilateral cooperation between the United States, India, and other like-minded partners." He said that they "exchanged views on a range of regional issues of shared interest, including in South Asia, East and Southeast Asia, and the Western Indian Ocean" at their meeting on Wednesday.
Committee to decide on booster dose, vax effective against Delta : Health Ministry

At a press briefing on the present Covid situation, he said that they had around 60-70 cases of Delta variant at the start and now have around 300 cases. Bhushan also said that the efficacy of the vaccines has been tested and they are effective against the Delta variant. Meanwhile, Health Ministry officials said that Kerala is the only state that currently has more than one lakh active cases.
Will demolition of Noida twin towers need foreign experts' help?

According to planning and infrastructure expert Abhinav Singh, this is a historic decision, but there are challenges as several buildings already exist next to this twin towers. He said, if the two towers will be demolished, a vibration will be created which can damage the structures surrounding it. He said, "There is no expert in India to demolish such a building, we will have to take help from abroad."

Geelani buried in local graveyard near his residence in Srinagar

92-year old Geelani passed away around 10.30 p.m. Wednesday at his Hyderpora residence where he remained under house arrest since 2008. Police sources said Geelani was buried around 4.45 a.m. at the Hyderpora graveyard in the presence of his relatives and neighbours. Restrictions have been imposed across the Valley on Thursday to maintain law and order.

Ramana said: "On web portals, there is no control of anybody, they can publish anything...If you go to YouTube, you will find how fake news is freely circulated and anyone can start a channel on YouTube." The bench also comprising Justices Surya Kant and A.S. Bopanna observed that the content shown in a section of private media bears a communal tone.
Noida Supertech case: Yogi orders SIT to probe role of officials

According to the government spokesman, "Chief minister Yogi Adityanath has directed to form an SIT at the government level immediately for investigation in Noida's twin towers case. Instructions have been given to fix the accountability of officers who were associated with this case from 2004 to 2017." He added that the SIT has been ordered to take a time-bound action.

India's fresh Covid cases near 50K, biggest surge in a month

The total number of active cases presently stands at 3.89 lakh (3,89,583). Kerala contributed 32,803 cases or nearly 70 per cent of new cases and a third of deaths. The total number of those affected in the state by the viral infection now stands at 40,90,036. The test positivity rate was reported at 18.76 and with 173 deaths, the number of fatalities increased to 20,961, the Kerala government release said.
