India logs 41,965 Covid cases, inoculates 1.33 cr in a day

With this, the total tally rose to 3,28,10,845, according to Union Health Ministry's data released on Wednesday. Out of total fresh Covid infections reported on Tuesday, 19,622 of them were from Kerala alone, the highest among the states. India also recorded more deaths against previous day. According to the Health Ministry, on Wednesday, India reported as many 460 deaths due to Covid, while on Tuesday 350 deaths were recorded. Now, the cumulative deaths due to Covid in the county has risen to 4,39,020 till Wednesday morning.
Delhi HC issues notice on plea challenging Asthana's appointment as top cop

Advocate Prashant Bhushan, representing Centre for Public Interest Litigation (CPIL), submitted before a bench comprising chief justice D.N. Patel and justice Jyoti Singh that the petitioner has directly copy pasted from its plea filed at the top court. He stressed that this is violation of the Delhi High Court Rules. The counsel for the petitioner denied any copy paste job. Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, representing the Centre, contended that it seems too much of a coincidence, even typographical errors are the same.
Yogi orders action against Noida officials in Supertech case

The chief minister's action comes a day after the Supreme Court ordered demolition of the 40-storey twin towers being constructed in Noida's Sector 93A. The court also slammed the Noida Authority pointing out multiple incidents of collusion of its officials with Supertech and violations of norms by the realty major in the construction of the twin towers. The court had ordered prosecution of officials of Supertech and the Noida Authority under the Uttar Pradesh Urban Development Act for flouting the laws.

He trained with the Indian Army for three years between 1979 and 1982 under the Army Cadet College, Nowgaon. Chidambaram cautions govt on possible axis of China, Pak, Taliban

Chidambaram tweeted, "The government is congratulating itself for the UNSC resolution on Afghanistan adopted yesterday. 'Resolution' has two meanings. The first is that the issue has been 'resolved' or settled to India's satisfaction. That is not what happened at the UNSC." He further said, "The second meaning is that we have put our wishes on paper and got some others to sign that paper! That is what happened at the UNSC yesterday."
Tejpal case appeal hearing adjourned as Goa seeks trial in virtual mode

India won't abandon Afghan people, but recognition of Taliban not on radar

Authoritative sources told India Narrative that India is in no mood to recognise the Taliban rule in Afghanistan in a hurry, even as the top leadership of the outfit reached out to New Delhi, describing it as an important country in the region. For now, as the Taliban are set to assume formal control of the country, following withdrawal of the US troops, India has adopted a wait and watch policy before taking any decision.
