India achieves single-day record of 1.09 cr vaccinations
The numbers are the highest achieved by India on a single day since the beginning of the vaccination drive on January 16. The data of 1.09 crore vaccinations is as per the provisional reports received till 7 pm on Tuesday. Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya tweeted, "Congratulations, as India administers another 1 crore Covid 19 vaccinations today. Highest one-day record of 1.09 crore vaccine doses achieved till 6 pm - and still counting! Under PM Narendra Modi ji, India is fighting strongly against Corona."
Delhi logs 28 new Covid cases, one death
With the new cases, Delhi's tally stands at 14,37,764, while the toll has risen to 25,082. While the infection rate stands at 0.05 per cent, the active case tally has declined to 349. A total of 53 Covid patients were discharged in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of recoveries to 14,12,333, the bulletin said. Out of total active cases, 85 are being treated in home isolation.
India carries out maritime drills with Algeria and Morocco
Indian Naval Ship (INS) Tabar took part in a maritime partnership exercise with Algerian Navy ship 'Ezzadjer' on August 29. INS Tabar is on a goodwill visit to Europe and Africa. "The Alandmark exercise, held off the Algerian coast, saw the participation of a frontline Algerian warship, 'Ezzadjer'," said the Indian Navy. The exercise enabled the two navies to understand the concept of operations followed by each other.
Amarinder contradicts Rahul on Jallianwala Bagh renovation
Amarinder Singh when asked said, "I do not know what has been removed, it looks very nice to me." The statement is contrary to Rahul Gandhi who on Tuesday joined the outrage on social media over the renovation. Rahul Gandhi said that he will not tolerate disrespect of the martyrs. Pankaj Kumar Singh takes over as new BSF chief
Outgoing Indo-Tibetan Border Police DG S.S. Deswal, who was holding the additional charge as DG BSF, handed over the baton to Singh, who will be the 29th chief of the BSF, the largest border guarding force with over 2,65,000 men and women, and tasked with manning the international borders with Pakistan and Bangladesh. Singh, who will hold the post till next December, has done a stint in the BSF earlier.
Vector-borne diseases rise in Delhi, 27 cases reported in last one week
Altogether, 97 cases of dengue have been reported this year along with 45 malaria and 26 chikungunya cases. According to the latest report compiled by the various civic bodies in Delhi, 15 dengue, nine malaria and three chikungunya cases have been reported in the last one week in the city. According to a report, the South Delhi Municipal Corporation area is witnessing the highest spread of vector-borne diseases.
Pak national among 2 infiltrators gunned down at LoC in Poonch
Speaking to reporters Brigadier Puneet Doval said during the early hours of August 30, the Indian army troops, foiled an infiltration attempt by the terrorists from across the LoC. "The Indian army troops deployed along the LoC received a specific intelligence input provided by the intelligence agencies and police were alert to notice the terrorist movement though the integrated surveillance network," Doval said.
Sanjay Arora takes over as ITBP chief
Deswal handed over the baton to Arora at the force headquarter. Arora will be the 31st chief of the elite force, which was raised in 1962 and primarily deployed to guard the India-China border in the Himalayas. Deswal, an IPS officer of Haryana cadre, was appointed as ITBP chief on October 31, 2018. He was also Director General of the Sashastra Seema Bal.
