Rajnath Singh, who was accompanied by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, said that the almighty had created an 'unparalleled Jodi' of Modi and Yogi. "I would not have been able to do so much work in Lucknow if Yogi Adityanath had not been the chief minister. My effort has been to make Lucknow a beautiful city. Deputy chief minister Keshav Maurya has also helped me in this," he said.
BSF trooper found dead in J&K's Rajouri

The victim, identified as Rakesh Kumar, was found dead in Sunderbani area at around 9.30 a.m. "The constable was posted with the 69 Battalion. Inquest proceedings have been started. The body has been shifted to hospital in Sunderbani for post-mortem," the police added.

Supertech's 40-storey twin towers in Noida to be razed, SC cites builder-authority collusion

A bench headed by Justice D.Y. Chandrachud said there was collusion between Noida authority and Supertech while allowing construction of two towers in one of its projects in Noida. The bench said Noida authority gave permission to Supertech to construct two additional 40-floor towers, was in violation of the rules, and directed that demolition should be carried out within 3 months.
Heavy rain across Delhi-NCR leads to waterlogging, traffic jams

Several parts of Delhi and the adjoining cities such as Noida, Greater Noida, Ghaziabad and Gurugram received moderate to heavy rain, the weatherman said. According to the Delhi Traffic Police, waterlogging was reported on several key roads, including Shahjahan Road, W Point ITO, Thyagraj Marg, Lala Lajpat Rai Marg, Moolchand Underpass, AIIMS, among others.
Nine new Supreme Court judges take oath of office

On August 18, the Supreme Court published on its website names of nine persons it recommended for appointment as judges to the top court. The decision was taken by the Supreme Court Collegium headed by chief justice Ramana and comprising four senior most judges of the top court. These names were subsequently approved by the central government on August 26.
India reports 30,941 new Covid cases; daily positivity rate below 3%

Out of the total fresh Covid infections reported on Tuesday, 19,622 were reported from Kerala -- the highest among the states. The daily positivity rate remains below 3 per cent and stands at 2.22 per cent. In the same span of time, India reported 350 deaths due to Covid, taking the total fatalities so far to 4,38,560, according to the Union Health Ministry's report.

Flood situation deteriorates in Assam, 2 children killed

According to Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) officials, one child each was washed away in floodwaters in Morigaon and Barpeta districts. Officials said that the highest number of people -- over 1.30 lakh -- were affected in Lakhimpur district followed by 65,000 in Majuli, 41,400 in Darrang, 24,300 in Biswanath, 21,300 in Dhemaji, and 17,800 in Sivasagar district.
War of words in Bihar after Nitish declared as PM material

The BJP sharply reacted to this and said that the leaders of JD(U) are giving such statements so that Nitish Kumar feels like he is on the top, while the reality is quite far from it. "The JD(U) leaders are branding him as PM material, but why should others do? They have not borrowed money from him," BJP MLC Nawal Kishore Yadav said.
