Northeast BJP MPs meet Modi, blame Cong for politics over border dispute
Amid the ongoing tussle between Assam and Mizoram, the sources have said that the BJP MPs met PM Modi to discuss issues concerning their states and the ongoing border dispute between Assam with other neighboring states. The MPs submitted a memorandum on various issues pertaining to the development of the region along with border dispute between Assam and Mizoram.
Normal rainfall likely in Aug-Sep across nation: IMD
Monthly rainfall for August is most likely to be normal -- 94 to 106 per cent of Long Period Average (LPA), India Meteorological Department (IMD) Director General Mrutyunjay Mahapatra said. He was addressing a virtual press conference to declare southwest monsoon rainfall forecast for the second half of the season and for August. The LPA of the August to September period rainfall over the country as a whole for 1961-2010 is 428.3 mm.

SC issues notice to states/UTs on scrapped section 66A of IT Act
A bench comprising justices R.F. Nariman and B.R. Gavai directed that notice should be served to registrar general of all high courts and listed the matter for further hearing after 4 weeks. The Centre has told the top court it is the primary duty of states and UTs to stop registering cases under Section 66A of the IT Act after the provision was quashed by it.

41,134 new Covid cases, 424 deaths in India in 24 hrs
India is registering less than 50,000 daily new cases for 36 continuous days. However, the country has registered marginal decline in fresh Covid cases than Sunday. On Sunday, India had recorded 41,831 fresh cases of Covid-19. With 424 more Covid fatalities, India's cumulative death toll now stands at 4,24,773. India's active caseload has crossed the four lakh mark and stands at 4,13,718.

Border clash: Mizoram to 'relook' FIR against Assam CM
Mizoram Chief Secretary Lalnunmawia Chuaungo said in Aizawl that following the advice of Chief Minister Zoramthanga, the administration would "relook" the FIR registered against the Assam Chief Minister. He said that Zoramthanga did not approve of the inclusion of Sarma's name in the FIR, adding that he too was not properly aware of Sarma's name being included in the FIR before it was lodged.
